A group of around 50 protesters and volunteer bikers as their security guards gathered outside Lindley Hall to demonstrate against the Kinsey Institute for Sex, Gender and Reproductive Research, Indiana University , on Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Bloomington, Indiana.

The demonstration began with a prayer at 2 p.m., then the oath of allegiance. Members of the Scallywags III-percenter biker group, who wore 1 percent three-piece style biker patches, were posted around the protesters as security. The Scallywags have been active in 2020 counter-protesting at Black Lives Matter protests in southern Indiana, including Bloomington, Bedford, and Martinsville.

Some of the protesters raised their hands in the air while singing religious songs. American flags were planted in the ground near the steps where speakers stood one by one to address the crowd through a portable PA system.

A woman speaking called Alfred Kinsey a sexual pervert and expressed anger that Indiana University is funding the institute, then encouraged her listeners to work for it to be funded during the Indiana legislature in 2023.

Janet Douglas then spoke and said the Kinsey Institute was “ground zero” for what she described as “the sexual perversion that has swept everywhere”.

“This will continue unless you and I rise up and fight this entity. I’m just going to say it because I realized it’s a demonic structure that needs to fall. And I don’t know about you, where are you at with your faith and what you think, but the demons are real, and they’re doing everything they can through the Kinsey Institute and our government said Douglas.

But then a heckler interrupted him as he carried an umbrella with the words “No Space 4 Hate.” He was quickly surrounded by bikers, and one of them knocked him down. The heckler said he had a right to stand where he wanted and quickly ran up the steps.

A motorcyclist took away his umbrella, while members of the Indiana University police force quickly arrested the counter-protester. The biker then carried the broken umbrella as he walked towards the back of the crowd.

Then a pastor named Matt Roller blamed the late Playboy Magazine publisher Hugh Hefner for spreading sexual perversion. Roller blamed pornography for the high divorce rate in the United States. Another pastor, Michael Peterson, then took the floor and spoke about porn addiction.

As the speakers continued to talk, a group of counter-protesters argued loudly with one of the anti-Kinseys. Another counter-protester wearing a red t-shirt confronted a biker near the scene.

Meanwhile, a speaker railed against the government and the Rockefeller family, and accused the late Hugh Hefner of being their pamphleteer.

Later, a John Birch Society senior field coordinator, Jon Schock, said, “What we have in our schools through SIECUS, the Sexuality Information Education Commission in the United States, is that they care for young children inside the schools themselves, paid for by the taxpayer. Eli Lilly’s Indiana Department of Education dollars from other organizations as they train these young people to be perverted for life. This is happening in our schools.

Afterwards, the demonstrators took part in a “prayer march” by circling the Kinsey Institute once. One of the bikers could be heard saying, “All Lives Matter”. A man covered his face with a cup of soda so as not to be photographed.

After the march, a counter-protester stood in the back with a sign that read “Fascists Go Home!” and a biker began to debate respectfully with him. A photographer began to photograph the biker’s patches up close, and another biker walked up behind her and caught her in the face. But then one of the other security volunteers quickly intervened and apologized to the woman.

The crowd dispersed.
