According to court records obtained by WXXIXIan Angel, 47, was arrested and charged with rape and robbery for his alleged involvement in an August 23, 2007 rape at a Super 8 motel in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.

Commonwealth lawyer Rob Sanders said WLWT that DNA was recovered from the victim when the incident occurred and is believed to belong to the suspect.

The woman at the time told investigators she was performing dance services or massages for clients. She was contacted by a man who accepted 30 minutes of services. At the end of those 30 minutes, Angel allegedly asked for sex but the victim refused, according to WXXIX. He allegedly got angry and hit her repeatedly until she lost consciousness.

WXXIX said the victim came and found $200 in cash and two cell phones missing from his room. She also told investigators that she believed she had been sexually assaulted.

Police took a DNA sample from a rape kit, according to WXXIX. Police used cellphone records to identify Angel as a suspect in 2007, but Fort Mitchell Police Detective Jess Hamblin said WXXIX that they were unable to locate him. The case eventually went cold.

According WLWT, the rape kit from the attack was recently entered into a database, which is how investigators obtained a match. It matched DNA entered into the database in 2011 for an assault charge in Las Vegas. The suspect in this case was Angel.

Angel has been located and arrested, according to WLWT. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
